Hershy Silberstein

Brooklyn developer Hershy Silberstein of Bluesky Developers filed plans to build a mixed-use project at 579 Sackett Street in Gowanus, replacing an auto repair shop. The 11-story, 47,000-square-foot development will feature more than 60 apartments, ground-floor retail, bike storage, a fitness room, and rooftop recreation. Silberstein bought the site, also known as 224 Third Avenue, for $16.5 million from Slate Property Group’s Martin Nussbaum earlier this year. This project joins a surge of Gowanus developments following the 2021 rezoning, aiming to add over 8,000 new housing units.
